Parcel shipping operator DPD (Pegasus) Romania has formed a partnership with local courier QPACK consolidating its position on the Romanian courier, express and parcel (CEP) market. Joining the international group DPD, number two in Europe in the courier sector, Pegasus continues its development, subcontracting the activity of QPACK and also taking over the customer portfolio.

Representatives of QPACK Romania say the partnership will help their company deal with the difficult situation in which it found itself due to the recent unstable economic conditions. “Becoming subcontractors of the main market players is a solution for small companies during this difficult financial period in order to avoid leaving the market. This is an option that will prove profitable both for DPD and QPACK,” said Lucian Aldescu, CEO of DPD (Pegasus) Romania and president of the Romanian Courier Operators Association (AOCR).

In Romania, DPD has implemented a unique technological system based on parcel distribution through zip codes, which aims to ensure improved quality of service and increased security of deliveries.

QPACK posted a RON 4 million turnover at the end of 2009, with a staff of 80 and a fleet of 120 vehicles. Pegasus was established in 1997, as the first company in Romania offering inter-city deliveries. In March 2008, GeoPost Yurtici Kargo acquired the majority shareholding of Pegasus. It has a market share of 10 percent domestically and 7 percent internationally.
