CEO Clubs establishes Romanian chapter

CEO Clubs, the organization dedicated to chief executive officers around the world, has established a Romanian chapter. The organization aims to create a “nurturing environment” for CEOs, dedicated to knowledge sharing aimed at improving the quality and profitability of their enterprises as well as to personal growth.

The recruitment process of members is based on personal recommendations and Sotiris Chatzidakis, executive vice president of CEO Clubs SE Europe, says the network looks for qualities such as leadership potential, ability to add value to the network, and individual interest in innovation. As for the knowledge sharing process taking place, he said, “We are getting educated on how this market works but we can also educate the leaders on how we work, or different ways of doing business.”

By October, Bulgarian and Serbian chapters will be established, while the first quarter of 2012 should see the setting up of a Cypriot chapter.

The network was founded by Joseph Mancuso in 1977 when he left the chairmanship of the management department of WPI in Worcester, Massachusetts. Comprised of chapters in the US, India, South Africa, Greece and China, the CEO Club is a nonprofit, by-invitation-only membership association.

The club’s chapters each meet eight times a year for a half-day luncheon program. A member of one chapter is a member of all chapters and their biographies and photos on the website are password protected. The morning is spent in roundtables and a speaker usually concludes the program. Other meetings are also scheduled with no speaker, with site visits or with members from other countries.

Over the past three decades, members of the CEO Club have included Ted Turner, Herb Kelleher, Peter Grace, Steve Forbes, Michael Bloomberg, Donald Trump and the founders of America Online, Jim Kimsey and Steve Case.
