The Christmas Market in Bucharest, registered in the international network www.christmasmarkets.com, opens on Thursday, November 30th, with free admission, announced by Creart.

Organized by the Bucharest City Hall through CREART – the Center for Creation, Art, and Tradition of Bucharest Municipality, in Constitution Square, the event awaits the residents of Bucharest and tourists for an authentic Christmas experience until December 26th. The event features activities and attractions for the entire family.

A 30-meter tall Christmas tree adorned with pine branches, festive lights, beautifully decorated booths, traditional and international delights, enchanting activities for all visitors, carol concerts, and holiday-specific music—all these elements will create the magical atmosphere of Christmas right in the heart of the city.

Crafts, creations, and local products fair

With over 130 Christmas booths, the market will host craftsmen from all regions of the country, authentic creators, and local producers showcasing their art and traditions passed down through generations. Visitors will find daily inspiration for seasonal gifts, from hand-painted ornaments, ceramic bells, intricately woven wreaths, and other specific decorations to icons and wooden items, traditional costumes, toys, accessories, jewelry, ornaments, and natural cosmetics. Each handmade product tells its own unique story.

The market also offers traditional culinary delights such as: sweetbreads, pies, homemade cakes and chocolate, traditional Romanian sweets, jams, as well as children’s favorites like gingerbread, lollipops, candies, and jellies. Essential Christmas dishes can be sampled in specially arranged gastronomic areas, along with seasonal hot beverages. From Romanian delicacies to international specialties, the market promises a flavorful culinary journey.

Artistic program

The 16th edition of the Bucharest Christmas Market will feature two zones dedicated to holiday music. In the traditional zone, visitors can enjoy Romanian carols, customs, children’s choirs and groups, instrumental performances, as well as ensembles representing minorities and national communities. The second zone will be animated by DJ mixes featuring international rhythms of well-known winter season melodies.

The official opening on November 30th, Romania’s National Day on December 1st, St. Nicholas Day, Christmas Eve, and the two Christmas days, as well as weekends, will be celebrated with concerts by renowned ensembles, artists, beloved bands, and special activities organized in collaboration with the Bucharest Christmas Market partners.

Weekends will be dedicated to magic and joy, featuring a selection of theater plays created for children, performed on the event stage starting at 12:00 PM. From classic stories to adventures and beloved characters, the shows will transport children into enchanted worlds full of surprises.

Activities for children

Becoming a tradition recognized and loved by children, Santa’s House reveals in detail the entire story of the international symbol of this holiday. With an area of over 100 square meters, decorated and hand-painted to accurately depict Santa’s magical world, it welcomes children throughout the event to express their most sincere wishes in words, drawings, and letters, in the presence of elves. In the first weeks, children will be greeted with creation workshops to make their own decorations and ornaments. From Friday, December 15th, Santa Claus himself will arrive to meet children daily, listen to them, and tell them about all the miracles of Christmas. On Christmas Eve afternoon, Santa will take his sleigh and leave to distribute gifts under the Christmas tree to children worldwide.

The carousel in Constitution Square will also become an unforgettable attraction, bringing smiles and fun. Winter characters, cheerful melodies, and smooth movements will take the little ones into a fairytale universe.

Attractions for the entire family

The panoramic wheel will offer visitors a unique perspective of the event and the city, allowing them to admire, from a height, the festive lights, festively adorned booths, and the spectacular Christmas tree decorated with golden stars, garlands, and thousands of ornaments. Positioned right in the center of the Christmas Market, the thematic train will also provide a captivating view during a fairy-tale journey.

Mascots and on-foot animator artists, dressed in fascinating costumes, will interact with the public and take photos, bringing the joy of the holiday to everyone.
