The eight edition of the “Long Night of Short Films” festival (Noaptea Lunga a Filmelor Scurte), organized by ShortsUP, will be held on Saturday, July 2 in Bucharest.

The film festival will bring forth to the public 28 short films from 15 countries, which were included in the official selection of the film marathon. After the international jury’s validation, these will then receive votes from  the audience during the “ShortsUP Audience Awards” competition and 24 hours after the end of the event. The winner of this competition will win a EUR 1,500 prize.

Among the most anticipated movies of the festival is the UK short film “Stutterer” (directed by Benjamin Cleary), a drama which won the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short Film at the 88th Oscars ceremony.

The audience will also have the opportunity to watch the animation “Sunday Lunch”, written and directed by Celine Devaux, which was the winner of the Best short Animation Film at the César Awards in 2016.

The film festival will also screen Romanian short films, such as “O noapte in Tokotiki”, directed by Roxana Stroe, which depicts the birthday celebration of a 18 year-old teenage girl called Geanina. The short film received the Special Prize of the Generation 14plus International Jury at the Berlin International Film Festival.

The event will be held at the Romexpo Central Pavillion and the event will last from 21:00 to 05:00 the following day (the public will be given access to the area at 20:00). Tickets can be purchased online from MyTicker, Eventbook and Eventim for RON 35  in the pre-sale period (June 21- July 2) or RON 40  on the spot.
