Editorial: Technology paving the way to better living

“The technology sector is no longer thought of as a pure vertical, as AI adoptions are widely infused throughout the economy and spread across sectors ranging from healthcare to banking, insurance, logistics, retail, and the public sector. This is also reflected on the local mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market, which recorded deals worth USD 6.6 billion in 2022, according to EY Romania. Of the total volume, technology transactions had a share of 19 percent, up 3 percentage points over 2021. The high levels of 2022 were also maintained in the first half of 2023, when M&A deals in Romania’s tech sector remained at similar levels, indicating a strong demand for tech companies, as businesses leverage AI in their products and services as well as for transforming their own processes.
