Christian Tour, the largest travel agency in Romania, came to the Romanian Tourism Fair, held at Romexpo from 15-18 February 2024, with a complex offer, including over 100 holiday destinations on all continents. Christian Tour offers one of the largest portfolios of holidays on the local market among Romanian tour operators.

“The discounts agreed with our partners in various destinations helped us to have substantial discounts of up to 60% on some holiday packages during the fair,” says Cristian Pandel, CEO & President of Christian Tour. What’s more, some of them have been extended until the end of the Early Booking period and can be booked on our website or through our agencies across the country.”

Among the premieres that Christian Tour brought to the Romanian Tourism Fair were the family holiday clubs, launched under the SuriClub brand. The “Suricescu Family” – the group of mascots who create fun and excitement for children in these family vacations – has been known for years to Romanian tourists who have travelled with Christian Tour.

“Sales of tours and holidays during the Fair were 50% higher than last year and, to compare with the pre-pandemic period, 43% higher than 2019,” adds Cristian Pandel. “For Christian Tour it was the best event ever. In total, 10,000 people booked a holiday during this period.”

This year’s Christian Tour offer includes many new destinations, some of them with direct charter flights for the first time. These include Gran Canarias, Tenerife, Albufeira flying to Faro in southern Portugal. In addition, the Romanian tour operator offers charters to the island of Cyprus and the Greek islands of Kefalonia, Kos, Corfu, Zakynthos, Rhodes, Crete – Chania and Heraklion and many others.

Romanians are increasingly attracted to see the world, with exotic destinations such as Vietnam, Thailand, Japan, Argentina, or Costa Rica completing the tour operator’s offer. The classic beach holidays with charter flights remain in high demand, especially for families with children, and 60% of Christian Tour customers are families. More than 20% of customers are turning to cultural programmes, especially seniors over 55. On domestic tourism, the tour operator registered a high demand for the balneal-climatic resort areas and the Danube Delta.

The most popular destination at the Tourism Fair, however, remained Antalya, Turkey.

“We have more than 30 weekly flights to Antalya all summer long, 11 of which are from Bucharest alone,” says the company official. “Moreover, the most expensive package sold at the fair was for a family of two, also in Antalya, with accommodation in a luxury villa. Its value was of 30,000 euros.”

Other destinations requested by visitors were: Italy – especially Sardinia, Sicily, Ischia, Spain – where preferences were divided between Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Mallorca, Costa Brava and Costa del Sol, and Portugal – especially Albufeira, Faro.

2024 is an atypical year, with Romanian tourists focusing on international destinations and a demand that exceeds the flight supply.

“Unfortunately, we have reached a point where the market supply is not sufficient, due to capacity restrictions in the aviation industry. Because of this, people seem to have understood that it’s better to book a holiday in advance, paying a small 10% deposit, in order to get the best holiday deals,” says Cristian Pandel.

The Tourism Fair and the sales period around this event were exceptional for the Romanian tour operator, hence the decision to extend the validity of many offers, in agencies and online, until 29 February.

“Our clients know the Christian Tour brand, for them we remain the first choice for holidays for many years. For this we thank them and strive to make things better and better,” added Christian Tour CEO.
