Liliac has invested 3.4 million euros in expanding the winery at Batoș

Liliac, the winery in Batoș, Mureș County, which preserves the youthful Transylvanian spirit through its wines, made a 3.4 million euro investment this year in expanding its production space – half of the investment came from European funds. Liliac Winery now has an area of 1500 square meters, adding 400 square meters to the existing space.

The expansion of the Batoș winery has increased the production capacity from 450,000 bottles to 600,000, adding to the production line and other functions. Now, production, bottling, labeling, and product storage all happen in one place.

With the expanded production capacity in Batoș, the winery expects a 20% increase in sales in the next year, which translates to 550,000 bottles sold. 

“The expansion of the Batoș winery was not only a necessity but also a dream we have nurtured from the beginning of our journey in the world of Transylvanian wines. With this expansion, we are prepared to increase sales by 20% in 2024. Additionally, in the future, we will focus on wine tourism, providing spaces for events and even accommodation. This will be an opportunity for people to better understand the wine production process and to purchase products directly from the winery. The investment also brings the possibility to accommodate new premium wine varieties, 2000-liter barrels for fermentation, laboratory modernization, a new space for oak barrels, as well as a new heating and cooling system.
