Liliac, the winery from Batoș, Mureș County, which preserves the youthful spirit of Transylvania through its wines, announces the launch of its newest variety – Cuvée Antonia. Liliac Cuvée Antonia is a wine born in Transylvania, inspired by the name of Antonia Beck, the granddaughter of Alfred Michael Beck, the winery’s founder. Antonia is part of the new generation that will add another chapter to the Liliac story.

The new variety represents the perfect symbiosis between the distinct terroir and modern technique – a new wine from the old world. The grapes are harvested by hand and processed with the same care with which they were nurtured until maturity.

The wine we have launched, Cuvée Antonia, is another proof of our effort to change a traditional industry, where we want to do things differently, another way of making wine. The fact that we are a young team behind a family business certainly helps. The new variety bears the name of Mr. Beck’s granddaughter, the founder and investor of Liliac Winery. Therefore, alongside his and his daughter’s signature, the wine also bears the signature of Antonia,” says Miron Radic, General Manager of Liliac.

Cuvée Antonia is a blend of four grape varieties: Chardonnay (55%), Sauvignon Blanc (25%), Neuburger (16%), and Muscat Ottonel (4%), making it a balanced wine with pronounced aromas and a pleasant, fruity taste. The bouquet features intense aromas of ripe apples and pears, peaches, exotic fruits, bananas, mango, and eucalyptus.

The new Cuvée Antonia is an expressive, floral, mineral, well-structured wine, with a freshness and fruitiness specific to the Lechința terroir. It is a friendly, easy-to-understand wine that can be enjoyed in any context,” says Ghislain Moritz, Head of Production at Liliac.

25,000 bottles of the new blend have been bottled, which will be available exclusively in the HoReCa sector. Cuvée Antonia is the first new variety from the winery launched after Liliac’s investment last year of 3.4 million euros, which increased production capacity to 600,000 bottles per year.
