From June 23-25, Rasnov is gearing up to bring together individuals passionate about sustainable living for a unique experience. Here it will be hosted  the Tiny House Festival – that promises to captivate attendees with its impressive showcase of innovative homes and engaging communal activities.

The festival will showcase a variety of tiny homes designed for sustainable living. From DIY constructions to professionally built models, these homes maximize space while minimizing environmental impact. Visitors can explore the homes, learn about their design and construction, and get inspired for their own projects.

The festival fosters a sense of community, with activities like workshops, yoga classes, and communal gatherings. Attendees can connect with like-minded individuals and share ideas.

The Tiny House Festival in Rasnov is a significant step forward for the region. By bringing together enthusiasts, professionals, and curious individuals, it promotes innovation and awareness of sustainable living. The event provides a platform for networking, learning, and exchanging experiences. Currently, visitors can discover over modular houses, tiny houses, eco tiny houses, wooden structures for houses, among others.

„We expect a number minimum of 20 tiny houses, modular homes, temporary structures or prefabricated houses. There will be present exhibitors, suppliers and partners of the tiny house construction industry, floor heating companies, off-grid solutions providers, insulation suppliers, tent Glamping importers. There will be also a special section for tiny homes on wheels like converted vans, new food trucks/trailers, new and retro campers for rent or sale,” mentions the organizers of the festival on their official website, avaiable here.

Throughout the duration of the three-day event, attendees will have the opportunity to explore the showcased houses, examine the models, and gain insights into the design and construction process. Additionally, they can indulge in eco-friendly products and delectable treats available from food trucks, or choose to support local artisans by purchasing handmade accessories.

Furthermore, the festival’s program encompasses engaging workshops and informative debates focused on renewable energy, eco-construction, and off-grid living. These sessions cater to both adults and children, providing valuable knowledge and discussions in these areas.

Why a tiny house

The emergence of the tiny house movement, as it is commonly known, can be traced back to the United States during the financial crisis of 2008/2009. In the midst of a collapsing economy and a series of natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina, many people found themselves without homes, and it became increasingly challenging for young individuals to acquire new ones.

Over time, this trend gained momentum and transformed into a widespread phenomenon, which was further amplified by the impact of the pandemic. Today, a multitude of resources are available, offering insights into the meaning of tiny houses and providing a glimpse into the experience of living in one. Notably, popular shows such as “Living Big in a Tiny House” on YouTube and the Netflix series “Tiny House Nation” have played a significant role in increasing awareness and understanding of this concept.

The influence of the tiny house movement is now extending to Romania, where it is gradually taking shape. As interest grows, more people in the country are considering the possibilities of adopting this alternative housing option. They are inspired by the experiences shared through various media platforms and the easily accessible information on the subject. Additionally, the availability of accommodation options in remote areas that offer a tiny house experience is also contributing to the growing interest in Romania.
