Unilever invested EUR 48 million in the last three years in the factory from Ploiesti. The company expanded their Ploiesti Food Factory from 6,000 sqm to 17,000 sqm, making it one of their most advanced European facilities. As part of this strategic realignment, starting the end of 2024, the powder detergents production is planned to be relocated, and the Unilever factory in Ploiesti would exclusively focus on the production of food products.

The Unilever factory in Ploiesti has an annual production capacity of over 40,000 tons. It has 28 production and packaging lines, equipped with the latest technologies, in line with the highest sustainability standards. By investing in food production, Unilever Ploiești responds to the increasingly diversified demand of consumers. Today, the product portfolio has grown from 70 to more than 1,000 SKUs, including Knorr spices, Delikat, soups, sauces, and Knorr salad dressings. Products made in Ploiesti are sold in most European countries.

The production lines in Ploiesti are the source of some of the most appreciated food products in our regional portfolio. This direction is also in line with the economic need for food products, the factory now producing different assortments for more than 20 countries in the region“, says Ramona Pârvescu, Head of Country Unilever Romania.

As the final step in this transformation, the production of detergent powders from the Ploiești platform is planned to be relocated to other Unilever factories starting the end of 2024, with the Group supporting employees throughout the entire transition process.

“Colleagues are our main priority at the moment and we are focusing our efforts to find the best solutions for them”, adds Gabriel Oprea, the director of the factory in Ploiești.

This change will not affect the Unilever product portfolio available to Romanian consumers.

For Unilever, Romania holds a strategic position in the region, with a local history spanning over 30 years since the company contributes to improving Romanians lives with over 20 brands. Unilever currently has in Romania a team of over 1.500 colleagues.
