Dragos Anastasiu, the president of the German-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, says that German investors are worried despite Romania’s economic growth rate of 6.9 percent in 2017.

“The interest of doing things in Romania is very big, maybe the biggest ever in the history but without trust everybody will wait and the results will not be seen this year or next year, but in the years after,” said Anastasiu.

“’If we start to do things together today it will be very good,’ we told the government,” said the head of AHK Romania.

He said the German investors have identified three main challenges on doing business and the information has been submitted to the government. They are problems with the lack of skilled workers, the lack of predictability and the bureaucracy.

Anastasiu added that Romania needs to invest more in its image.

“I’d establish a working group or a minister for Romania’s image – PR is the most important thing Romania has to do right now – it’s not that difficult,” said the businessman.

He went on to say that the four million Romanians that are in the Diaspora are a “huge opportunity” for the economy.
