Marian Patrascu, Head of Sales and Talent Acquisition at APT Resources & Services, a speaker at the recent Working Romania online HR conference, discussed some of the most pressing issues of the current environment, regarding recruitment, employer branding & more.

Challenges bring us together during this process of adapting to the new normal: a complex overview on the first measures and best practices, focusing on solutions.

“I am glad to hear there are many solutions that favor employees. As a consulting company, we had the opportunity to see many takes on the current situation. As an organization, we made the shift to online very quickly. Of course, in the recruitment sector it was easy to make this change, but we also made it for the onboarding process and, with the help of our suppliers, even in occupational medicine.

Regarding our partners, we’re lucky to have had a variety of clients, with whom, shoulder by shoulder, we faced and surpassed many challenges. We had clients who decided to in the early stages of the crisis to terminate temporary employees, we had clients in specific industries who decided to take the technical unemployment route when this was made available, and we were happy to have had clients who decided to keep all their employees and pay them in full without any kind of support from authorities. At the same time, we also have partners which are still operating and have adapted their processes and procedures in order to keep working during this period, maintaining of course the health and safety standards for their employees and workplaces.

It was very challenging for us, because we went through different experiences together with our partners, but in this way our relations grew stronger, we created a community and we communicated a lot with each other in order to reach the best decisions.”

The recruitment process

“In the recruitment process, we also went through different states, including agony, when our partners in the automotive sector, decided to close the operations and cancel all recruitments, but we were also ecstatic when new recruitment project appeared in the logistics sector, which is an active sector during this period. At the same time, the IT&C companies are still hiring, and we are happy to support them and find the best strategies to fulfill their needs.”

Tips on employer branding

“At the moment, employers must defend their brand. How employees are treated now will be felt by employers in their future recruitment projects. Small and medium companies are probably more fast-responsive and want to maintain a different approach in the recruitment area, and this will be felt in the future.”
