Third seed Simona Halep scored a victory against Ukrainian Lesia Tsurenko on Friday, after the match was postponed. The game ended 6-3 4-6 6-4 after an hour and 49 minutes of play.

In the third round, Simona Halep will face Swiss Belinda Bencic (17 years old), 71 WTA.

Reaching the third round carries a prize of GBP 71,000 and 130 WTA points.

This is the 4th time Simona Halep has entered the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament and the first time she has made it to the third round. In 2011 and 2012, she made it to round two and in 2012 she was knocked out in the first round.

Halep is seen as the third favourite to win the title at this year’s Wimbledon, after reaching the final stage at Roland Garros earlier in the year, where she lost against Maria Sharapova.
