Video sharing website Trilulilu in partnership with Vodafone Romania launched Zonga, the first local product which offers access to music directly from the smartphone or personal computer, with no download required.

Vodafone became a minor shareholder in Trilulilu Music, the company which created the Zonga product, after acquiring a 15 percent stake. The value of the transaction has not been made public.

Vodafone customers have at their disposal 3 months in which they can test the product free of charge.

After the trial-period, Vodafone subscribers can choose between two special offers: the Zonga Vodafone package, which includes unlimited usage from the computer and 5 hour usage from the mobile phone for EUR 1.99 (no VAT) and the Zonga Vodafone Unlimited offer for EUR 2.99 per month.

Either of the two packages can be activated by sending a free of charge SMS to the number 966.

The service is also open for non-Vodafone clients, who can take up the Zonga Premium package for EUR 3.99 per month (no VAT).

“For us, it is very important that we are supporting a local business and a large part of revenues from subscriptions will go to artists and record labels, supporting the Romanian music industry,” said Mihai Ghyka, chief commercial officer of the Consumer Business Unit, Vodafone Romania.

Zonga has a portfolio of 16 million songs of Romanian and international artists, having partnerships with record labels among which Universal Music, Sony Music, Warner Music, EMI, Cat Music, Roton and Mediapro Music. It offers access to over 2 million albums by over 1.2 million artists.

The product is accessible on smartphones with iOS, Android and Symbian/Nokia. From the computer, Zonga can be accesed as an application for PC or Mac or directly from the browser at www.zonga.ro.
