Romanian tennis player Simona Halep has returned to Bucharest after a successful campaign at Australian Open that saw her battle for the title with Denmark’s Caroline Wozniacki. The Romanian lost in three sets but won appraisal for her fighting spirit.
The Romanian exited the Bucharest Otopeni Airport accompanied by coach Andrei Pavel.
“Wozniacki was better and deserved to win. I was closer to a Grand Slam trophy. Of course it is sad that I couldn’t win, but life goes on. It is just a tennis match and I hope that next time I’m in a final, if I will have the opportunity to play, I will win,” Halep told journalists upon arrival.
Halep lost the final of the Australian Open, in three sets, 6-7,6-3, 4-6 and dropped to No. 2 in the world.
