Sibiu International Theatre Festival starts selling tickets

“Radu Stanca” National Theatre Sibiu announces the sales of the first set of tickets for the 23rd edition of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival (FITS), which will be held this year during 10 – 19 of June. Over 8,000 tickets are put up for sale available for 35 indoor performances from the 131 events that will be for sale.

From April 9, tickets will be on sale, available for the Sibiu International Theatre Festival sections: meetings of the Theatre Arts Schools, concerts from churches, performances scheduled at Sibiu Ballet Theatre (Union Hall) and Studio Hall of “Radu Stanca” National Theatre. Until the beginning of May the complete programme of performances and special events of the Sibiu International Theatre Festival will be announced.

One of the most expected guest of this edition is Tim Robbins, known to the Romanian audience mainly for his part in The Shawshank Redemption. Founder and Artistic Director of The Actor’s Gang, he is attending festival as director of the performance “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”. The famous actor will sustain a special conference and will receive an honorary star on the Sibiu Walk of Fame.

Eimuntas Nekrošius and Meno Fortas Theatre return to Sibiu, and present the newest production “A Hunger Artist”/ „Un artist al foamei”. Poland will be represented by the actor and director Jarosław Fret who presents with Teatr ZAR the performance “Armine, Sister”/ „Armina, frumoasa mea soră”. Also from Poland will come Third Arrangement Theatre Company with the production “Pages from the Book of…”/ „Forța legământului”, directed by Andrzej and Teresa Welminski, former actors of Tadeusz Kantor theatre company.

Scottish Dance Theatre production “YAMA”/ „Aerul tare al muntelui”, realized together with the renowned Belgian choreographer and dancer, Damien Jalet, is a work that deserves to be encountered at FITS 2016.

One of the most representative theaters of German language in the world, Thalia Theater GMBH will come to Sibiu with the first part of the trilogy based on the work of Emile Zola “Love. Trilogy of my Family I”/ „Iubire. Trilogia familiei mele I”. This show event bears the signature of the renowned director Luk Perceval, who will sustain a special conference and will receive an honorary star on the Sibiu Walk of Fame.

Yamamoto Noh, a true legend, a theater with 700 years of history, which is part of the UNESCO heritage is invited to Romania with the show “The Demon of Adachi”/ „Demonul Muntelui”. Also from Japan, Haiyu-za Theatre will join us with the production ”Three Sisters”/„Trei surori” directed by Hajime Mori.

During the festival, the national and international audience will be able to enjoy the newest shows of “Radu Stanca” National Theater: “Goldberg Variations” directed by Charles Muller, „Moroi” directed by Alexandru Dabija, “Common People” a performance by Gianina Cărbunariu, “The night of the buffoons” signed by Alexa Visarion. Moreover, at Fabrica de Cultură will be presented the mega productions of the national theater from Sibiu “Faust”, “Metamorphoses” and “Lulu” directed by Silviu Purcărete.

From the Romanian season, tickets are on sale for: “One Minute of Dance… oof!!!”, performance by Gigi Căciuleanu and his company, “The Lonesome West” directed by Cristi Juncu at „C.I. Nottara” Theatre Bucharest, “Alice”, directed by Eugen Jebeleanu at Teatrul pentru Copii și Tineret Gong Sibiu. ACT Theatre presents “The Pillowman” directed and by Eugen Gyemant and “Minewater”. UnTeatru presents two productions at Sibiu International Theatre Festival: „The Sunset Limited”, directed by the couple Andrei and Andreea Grosu, and “Five Hours with Mario” directed by Mariana Cămărăşan. “Vanilla Skype”, a performance by Cătălin Ştefănescu, is scheduled on 12 and 13 June.

At Sibiu International Theatre Festival 2016 are expected over 2,600 artists and guests who will present over 430 performances and events, produced in 70 countries and scheduled in 68 venues.

Tickets can be bought from the Theatre Agency in Sibiu, Nicolae Bălcescu Blvd. no. 17 (open from Tuesday to Saturday between 11:00 and 18:00, and on Sunday between 10:00 and 14:00),  purchased from the national network of Germanos, Orange and Vodafone stores, from Humanitas and Cărtureşti bookstores and online from www.eventim.ro. There is no fee in the case of outdoor performances, as well as for special events (special conferences, reading performances and movies).
