Rompetrol to invest USD 17 mln in new filling stations network by yearend

Rompetrol, the oil and gas group, said on Thursday it plans to invest USD 17 million by yearned in a new concept for its filling stations, in a bid to expand its retail network in the Black Sea region.

The company completed on Thursday the modernization of a filling station under the new concept in Otopeni (Ilfov County), planning to revamp 25 stations by year end and build three new filling stations as part of the investment program.

“This will support the company’s objective of extending and consolidating the retail activities in the Black Sea region,” said in a statement Zhanat Tussupbekov, CEO of Rompetrol Group.

According to daily Ziarul Financar, the company plans to open 150 new filling stations in Romania and another 200 in the Black Sea region in the next five years.

The Rompetrol Group, which is owned by KazMunayGas, the state-owned gas and oil company in Kazakhstan, has over 1,100 fuel distribution points in Romania, Georgia, Bulgaria, Moldova, Ukraine, France and Spain.

The company operates a network of over 750 filling stations in Romania.
