Romanians like to read fiction, says elefant.ro bookstore

Fiction books have topped Romanians’ preferences over the past 3 months, with 34 percent of readers choosing these books over other literary genres.

Books for children were also among the favorites for 17 percent of Romanians, while motivational and business books were also in the top preferences for 13 percent of Romanians.

These are the findings of a survey about the habits of the Romanian bookworm carried out by elefant.ro online bookstore.

On average, over the last three months, Romanians acquired 8 books per month.

The buyers of the online bookstore have average or higher education, incomes above average and come from the urban areas, mainly large cities such as Bucharest, nearly 30 percent, Cluj-Napoca, 3.4 percent and Timisoara, 2.7 percent.

The best-sold titles on Elefant.ro between April 15 and July 15 were Fifty Shades, a fiction title by E. L. James, The Secret, The Power, and now The Magic, a motivational book by Rhonda Byrne, The China Study, a nutrition title by T. Colin Campbell and Thomas M. Campbell II, ), Be Dignified!, a biography by Dan Puric and The Little Prince, children’s literature by Antoine de Saint- Exupery.
