Romanian Language Day celebrated worldwide on August 31

August 31 is considered the Romanian Language Day and Romanian Cultural Institutes (ICR) throughout the world will organize exhibitions of photographs, facsimiles and manuscripts, theatre shows, poetry recitals, competitions and concerts. The Romanian Language Day is also celebrated in the Republic of Moldova.

ICR Rome

During September 3-8, Accademia di Romania in Rome, in partnership with the National Museum of Romanian Literature will hold an exhibition in the institute’s conference hall, consisting of 50 photograph portraits of Romanian writers and poets and their facsimiles and manuscripts.

ICR Budapest

ICR Budapest will celebrate the Romanian Language Day on September 2 at Micherechi by hosting an interactive show entitled “The Magic of the Word” designed by Giorgiana Elena Popan.

ICR Istanbul

“Dimitrie Cantemir” ICR in Istanbul presents the “Romanian Language Day celebrated in Istanbul: Emil Boroghina – Traditional Romanian Poetry Recital” project that will be put into play on August 29 at Institute headquarters. ICR Madrid will conduct an online project entitled “Romanian Language Day in Spain” during August 31-September 10, a campaign promoting Romanian literature translated into Spanish.

ICR New York

To celebrate the Romanian Language Day, during 29 August 29-September 1 ICR New York will organize four Romanian poetry recitals read by Constantin Chiriac in the United States and Canada.

ICR Paris

ICR Paris will also celebrate Romanian Language Day by organising the “I am a blind man” recital on August 31 performed by actor Horatiu Malaele at the Byzantine Hall of Béhague Palace. “The Eternal Journey and identity crises. Anxiety and challenges along the Road” with Carmen Firan, Adrian Sangeorzan and Vlad Solomon is the literary event hosted by ICR Tel Aviv on August 27 in honour of Romanian Language Day.
