Romania became vice champion at The World Universities Debating Championship

Romanians Radu Cotarcea and Octavian Buta are the world’s vice-champions at The World Universities Debating Championship, organized in India. Radu Cotarcea (in picture) also obtained the 4th place of world best-speakers.

At this championship, Romania participated with three teams, one representing Babes Bolyai University (Radu Cotarcea and Octavian Buta), another formed by Ioana Stupariu and Calin Muresanu and debutants Flaviu Miron and Bogdan Gliga, who previously won Saint George City of Debate.

The conductor of the Romanian delegation was referee Adi Ghite, executive president of Ardor Transilvania, an NGO specialized in public debates.

Between December 26, 2013 and January 4, 2014, more than 350 teams participated at the biggest competition worldwide for debating, the World Universities Debating Championship.
