Over 1.2 million numbers have been ported in the time between October 2008 and the end of 2013, most of them, 824.153 (representing 68%), belonging to the mobile phone segment, according to data released by ANCOM.
By the end of 2013, 1,207,425 phone numbers were ported, out of which 824,153 were mobile phone numbers and 383,272 were fixed numbers. 2013 holds the record for the year with the highest portability: 274,137 numbers were ported, an average of 22.844 numbers per month that changed networks but now owners.
December 2013 was the most prolific month in this sense with 33,532 ported numbers.

Statistics show that subscribers show the most interest in keeping their phone numbers, while only 20% of prepaid card users chose to switch their operator bu not their number.

Most requests for porting fixed phone numbers come from Bucharest (118.105 numbers), followed by Cluj (26,052), Timis (21,761), Prahova (18,687), Galati (15,217).
