The fastest 5G internet and eSIM technology become available for the first time to Orange PrePay customers

The best 5G/5G+ internet speeds, along with eSIM technology, are now available to Orange PrePay customers. By introducing these latest generation technologies, Orange PrePay customers will benefit from an improved digital experience, but above all from access to the fastest 5G/5G+ network in Romania, which offers speeds of up to 1500 Mbps.

During this summer, Orange customers were able to test the performance of the Orange 5G/5G+ network for free. Now, access to the fastest mobile network in Romania becomes available to all PrePay customers who choose one of the options with 5G included and have a compatible phone 5G. Thus, the voice and internet option of 6 euro credit will include access to the 5G network, while the voice option of 8, 12 and 16 euro credit and the internet option of 12 euro credit will provide access to the ultra-fast speeds of the 5G+ network.

PrePay customers with a 5G compatible phone will benefit from download speeds of up to 1500 Mbps in the 37 cities where the Orange 5G/5G+ network is available. For PrePay customers, access to the 5G network means better connection stability in crowded places, near-instant access to applications and when surfing the Internet, but also a completely new experience in playing VR content or gaming in high resolution.

A complete digital experience with eSIM

In addition to the performance offered by the 5G/5G+ network, this fall brings Orange PrePay customers a state-of-the-art digital experience through eSIM technology.

The eSIM is a new technology through which users connect to the mobile network without the need for a SIM card. For this it is necessary to have a compatible mobile device (smartphone, tablet or smartwatch). The phone number, as well as the information required for authentication and communication between the mobile network and the eSIM, will be stored in a unique profile that is installed digitally by scanning an activation code.

Why eSIM?

eSIM offers customers the possibility to install several phone numbers on a single mobile device, without the need to change SIM cards between them.

Another advantage of the eSIM is the durability it offers, compared to a classic SIM. Being integrated on the phone’s motherboard, the eSIM becomes much more resistant to mechanical shocks, dust and moisture, thus having a longer service life compared to a physical card.

Last but not least, eSIM represents an environmentally friendly alternative for customers to network. Thus, the plastic required for the production of the physical SIM card is eliminated as well as the pollution generated by the delivery of a classic SIM.
