New records set at the International Half Marathon. Business Review ran alongside thousands of participants

Sunday, over 8,000 people from 50 countries ran in the International Half-Marathon organised by Petrom in downtown Bucharest. The competition record was set by Maru David Kweomoi of Kenyan, who finished the 21 km in one hour, one minute and 43 seconds. Chebii Daniel Kipchumba (also from Kenya) came in second with 1h02.27 and the third spot went to Mitk Girma Ashebir (Ethiopia) who finished the race with 1h02.29.

Chepkemoi Vicotv finished first in the female section (1h12.17). She was followed by by Denne Tigist Bikila (Ethiopia, 1h14.18) and Tanui Rodai Jekorir (Kenya, 1h15.41).

The winners of the International Halfmarathon each received EUR 1,000, while first runners up received EUR 600 and second runner-ups EUR 400.

In the national category, Stefan Lupulescu (1h10.09) and Mihaela Prundus (1h20.02) won the top spots.

In total, the organisers gave away prizes of over EUR 17,000 and they estimate the number of participants was hihger by 60 percent than previous years.
