Subway operator Metrorex has signed a frame agreement for RON 55.9 million (EUR 12.4 million), VAT included, with security firm Nei Guard for security services in subway stations and on trains.

The contract was won in an open auction on December 29, with one other interested bidder outside of Nei Guard.

The security company will be in charge of protection 24 hours a day and the contract has a duration of 30 months.

Metrorex announced towards the end of 2014 that it will buy eight more subway trains from Spain’s CAF for EUR 47 million, thanks to financing from the European Investment Bank.
