Mega Image opens six stores in one week, reaches 453 units

Mega Image supermarket chain opened six new stores in Bucharest last week, taking its network to 453 units, company representatives announce.

Three of the six stores are in District 2, two units were opened in District 1 and one in District 4.

The shops at Calea Dorobanti, Straduintei, Ropotului and Intrarea Teiul Doamnei, are open in a Shop&Go format, with sales areas between 82 and 164 square meters. The other two units at Doamna Ghica and Radu Beller are operating in Mega Image format, with areas of 253 and 441 square meters respectively.

Mega Image has been present in Romania since 1995 and is part of the Delhaize Group. Over the past years it has had an aggressive expansion policy reaching a network of 453 stores at present. Out of this 244 are Shop&Go proximity stores and 206 are Mega Image supermarkets. The company also operates a store that sells exclusively frozen foods (Ab Cool Food), two dedicated to locally produced private labels (Gusturi Romanesti) and an online and drive-thru store (Mega Drive).

The retailer is present mostly in Bucharest, but also in cities like Constanta, Ploiesti, Pitesti, Brasov, and Targoviste.

Delhaize is an international retailer from Belgium active since 1867 which operates on three continents.
