Employee screening saves lives. REGINA MARIA – the employers’ partner through “The first visit to the doctor” program

With medical prevention still not seen as a priority by Romanians, more and more employers are starting to offer personalized screening programs to their employees, in addition to the common employee benefits already offered, such as medical subscriptions. Through such screening programs, employees can be medically evaluated directly at their workplace, without having to go to a doctor’s office. One such program has been run by Mega Image with REGINA MARIA, with 1,200 employees in 12 counties across the country being consulted.

“The most serious diseases do not have symptoms until they reach an advanced stage, and in some cases, treatment ends up being futile. Through screening, such diseases can be detected early, before they get worse and lead to serious complications. Together with companies in Romania, we have been running extensive screening programs for more than 7 years, including annual preventive investigations, which are an important step in checking the patient’s health. Together with our partner Mega Image, we have already carried out three screening campaigns and the results are impressive, to say the least. We have discovered patients who have had an ultrasound scan for the first time in their lives during these screening programs,” Andreea Minuță, Executive Director, REGINA MARIA Subscription Division, declared.

The most recent initiative targeted all Mega Image employees, out of which 1,200 colleagues chose to sign up for the program and received breast screening, abdominal and thyroid scans directly at their workplace, through REGINA MARIA’s mobile caravans, which travelled around the country to the retailer’s sites.

“At Mega Image we are constantly concerned about the health of our colleagues, firstly because we care about their well-being, and secondly because health is directly linked to work performance and productivity. We also believe in prevention and its essential role in detecting diseases early, because early detection allows for an easier way to treat them. As part of this initiative, carried out together with REGINA MARIA, we have had colleagues, even over 40 years old, who have had an ultrasound for the first time. I can say that this was one of the most successful initiatives we had, with all the available places in the program being filled in record time”, said Ileana Alexandru, Vice President of the Human Resources department, Mega Image.

With over 7 years of experience in screening campaigns carried out in 93% of the country’s counties, Regina Maria is the preferred health partner of Romanian companies when it comes to prevention projects. In recent years, almost 40,000 screenings have been carried out. 70% of the screenings can be carried out at the companies’ premises, through mobile caravans. It is estimated that, throughout the years, REGINA MARIA’s mobile caravans employed for these screening campaigns spent approximately 350 days at the clients’ premises.

Such programs are all the more important because, apart from the fact that many Romanians neglect to monitor their health in the absence of visible symptoms, there is also a worldwide increase in the number of young people being diagnosed with serious diseases. Moreover, in the screening programs carried out by REGINA MARIA in recent years, an average rate of 17% of changes in health parameters has been recorded, in such cases additional investigations being necessary. The percentage demonstrates once again the importance of prevention and screening programs.
