Lidl opens new store in Bucharest; network reaches 180 units

German retailer Lidl is opening its 180th supermarket in Romania Thursday, September 18, in capital Bucharest.

The new unit is located on Prelungirea Ghencea 88-22.

Since the start of the year, Lidl opened 11 new stores in Craiova, Eforie Nord, Târgu Neamţ, Iaşi, Arad, Bucureşti, Popeşti Leordeni, Craiova and Timişoara. The german retailer entered the local market in 2010 and currently employs over 3,800 people in its stores and regional distribution centers.

Lidl is part of German group Lidl&Schwartz, who also operates that Kaufland network on the local market.
