The European Commission, the executive arm of the EU, has vetted a new investment into a 18.5 km by-pass for Brasov, the seventh largest city in Romania.
The project requires a total investment of EUR 120 million, out of which EUR 82.7 million will be financed from the European Regional Development Fund.
Commissioner for regional policy Johannes Hahn said: “This investment is an example of how EU regional funds can improve citizens’ living conditions while also helping regions become better places to do business. Safe and secure transport infrastructure is fundamental, not only for the smooth operation of the Union’s internal market, but also for the economic and social wellbeing of the people living in our regions.”
The new project is set to create 740 new jobs and reduce the noise and congestion in the city center.
