October 23-25, Hotel Marshal Garden and Hotel Cismigiu
The first business networking event for the Romanian cultural and creative sector is seeking to highlight the importance of the domain, which proponents say could be a significant pillar of economic growth.
The event will bring together cultural entrepreneurs, public financiers, private investors, public policy experts, journalists and communication specialists.
Andrew Senior (in picture), expert in the field of cultural policies at UNESCO and director of Andrew Senior Ltd, global consultancy agency in the creative economy, will host the grand opening.
The main objective of the forum is to present to both the national authorities and the general public the huge potential of this emerging economic sector, which the organizers say could be an important asset in the country’s social and economic development in the near future.
The initiative seeks to promote Bucharest as a regional hub of cultural and creative industries. Some 70 percent of the sector’s nationwide turnover is generated by cultural and creative projects based in Bucharest, according to Promoting Entrepreneurship in the Creative Industries, a study conducted especially for the forum.
The study found that Bucharest occupies 18th place in the European Union regarding the number of specialists from the creative industries.
The domains that are recognized worldwide as cultural and creative industries are: advertising, architecture, arts and antiquities, handicrafts, design, fashion, film, video, photography, software, gaming, electronic publishing, music and performing arts, publishing, TV and radio. Conference participation is free of charge, but online registration is required at www.crestetalente.ro.
