December 24 and 31, both falling on Wednesdays, have been declared by non-working days by the Government for employees working in the public sectors. The two days falling on Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve respectively, will be recovered according to public institutions’ planning.

“By Government order, December 24 and 31 are declared non-working days for employees in the public sector. These days will be on December 13 or 20 or through the necessary overtime, by January 31 2015”, according to the Government’s official announcement.

According to procedures, employees in the public sector can stay home on these free days, except for those working for institutions that require continuous activity.

For 2014, December 25 and 26 have the status of public holidays, representing the first and second day of Christmas. Also January 1 and 2 are legal holidays, when all employees can stay home.
