Corina Vintan, former spokesperson for Mihai-Razvan Ungureanu when he acted as minister of foreign affairs, allegedly cashed in from petro-chemical plant Oltchim a sum of EUR 500,000 for media and PR services provided by her company Links Associates, according to a story which surfaced on October 8 on Antena 3 channel (during the Sinteza Zilei program) and was also published in Jurnalul National daily, both outlets part of Intact media group.
However, Vintan dismissed the allegations as untrue.
“The contract with Oltchim was signed for the timeframe February- December 2011, based on a monthly fee of EUR 10,000 plus VAT, but it lasted for less than 6 months, until July 2011, when it was interrupted, with the agreement of both parties.
The real sum billed to Oltchim was EUR 55,000 plus VAT, for monthly consultancy and EUR 76,982 plus VAT for press events, public debates, and organizing interviews. We wish to mention that, out of this sum, the Intact group cashed in EUR 48,982 plus VAT.
The contract of nearly half a million euro is an invention of the ‘Sinteza Zilei’ program. The services offered to Oltchim according to the contract are usual services practiced by all agencies in the communication field,” said Corina Vintan, general manager of Links Associates in an official statement.
