The National Bank of Romania launched a 31 grams silver coin for numismatic lovers in order to celebrate 175 years since the birth of Romanian painter Nicolae Grigorescu. The reverse has painter Nicolae Grigorescu’s portrait and signature; the inscription “NICOLAE GRIGORESCU” and the artist’s life span “1838-1907”, whereas the coin’s obverse has a graphic composition suggestive of a palette, featuring the image of the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Memorial Museum in Câmpina; the face value “10 LEI”; Romania’s coat of arms; the inscription “ROMANIA” and the year of issue “2013”.

For this occasion, the bank issued 500 coins, priced at RON 360. The coin is sold in a special capsule, together with a brochure written in Romanian, English and French and an authentication certificate signed by the National Bank of Romania and Central Cashier. These collector coins will be put into circulation through the branches of the National Bank of Romania in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iaşi and Timişoara.
