French retailer Carrefour is hiring store managers for the new Supeco stores it will open in Romania, according to a recruitment ad on bestjobs.com. The first three stores will be opened in Giurgiu, Ramnicu Valcea and Targoviste.
Supeco is a retail brand present so far only in Spain where it was launched last year, according to Mediafax. Four stores have opened since. The stores’ concept is a mix between a discounter and a cash&carry store. “Supeco is a new store format which aims to offer customers low prices and focuses on fresh and FMCG products. Stores have sale areas of between 1,500 sqm and 2,000 sqm,” according to the recruitment ad.
French Carrefour runs a network of 166 stores in Romania – 25 hypermarkets, 79 supermarkets, 61 proximity stores and on online store.
Last year it reported sales worth approximately EUR 1 billion (VAT not included), up 2 percent y-o-y. This was a level similar to the one reported in 2008 when the retailer’s sales had increased by 37 percent y-o-y to the record EUR 1 billion. Over the following years the company’s sales dropped below this level.
