The holidays lights from Bucharest were lit Wednesday evening in the Universitatii Square by an international Olympic, a pupil at the National Informatics College “Tudor Vianu”, in the presence of Bucharest’s mayor, Sorin Oprescu. The Capital Christmas fair “Bucharest Christmas Market” also opened and will stay open until January 3rd 2013.

“Happy holidays, Bucharest, happy holidays,Romania!” Oprescu told Bucharest inhabitants who came to the Universitii Square for this event.

At the Christmas fair, 65 small houses were decorated for holidays. This year, the Christmas tree is 17 meters tall, and was decorated with 2,500 yellow bulbs and 600 art works that form a puzzle. Two angles were placed on top of the Christmas tree.

The children who will visit the Christmas fair will also have the occasion to see the reindeer slide and Santa Clause’ House.

For the first time, Bucharest is included in the international network of the most important Christmas fairs in Europe– Christmas Markets, being an official member of the fair.
