The Belgian Post is interested in acquiring a participation of 20 percent into the Romanian Post, said prime-minister Victor Ponta following a meeting in Brussels with his Belgian counterpart.
“I talked with the Belgian prime-minister and there will be a meeting, after two and a half years, between the management of the Belgian Post and the Romanian one, in order to identify their involvement, the presence of an important investor, a new type of management and saving the work places,” said Ponta.
The prime-minister did not say when the meeting will take place.
“The privatization strategy stipulates participation of up to 20 percent of a strategic investor. The Belgian Post showed interest, and not just the Belgian Post, but they were the ones interested in a 20 percent stake, also having a word to say on the management side. If at one point we have to change strategy, we will let you know,” said Ponta.
The Romanian Post is owned by the Ministry of Communications, which has a 75 percent stake, and Fondul Proprietatea, with 25 percent stake.
