nextE, a renewable energy company operating as an Independent Power Producer (IPP), announces the ongoing development of the Commercial & Industrial (C&I) solar market in Romania and its Energy as a Service (EaaS) product through the signing of a new Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between a consumer and a renewable energy producer.

Under this contract, nextE will deliver long-term green energy from a 42.9 MW / 51.48 MWp photovoltaic plant, marking the largest on-site C&I solar project in Romania and one of the most significant in the region.

NextE will invest approximately 35 million euros in the design and implementation of the photovoltaic plant, consisting of 78,000 solar panels and 130 inverters, along with a dedicated 110/20kV station. All components will be state-of-the-art to ensure maximum efficiency. The plant will be developed on a 50-hectare agricultural PV site, allowing continued grazing activities, thus reducing the impact on the local community and activities.

“The partnership between nextE and our client is a landmark event for the photovoltaic industry and the C&I market in Romania. We are marking a partnership and investment with an immediate impact on sustainability in Romania, as nextE undertakes the largest C&I project in Romania and among the largest in Europe. Alongside our client’s team, we will deliver a groundbreaking project that redefines electric power supply in Romania, reflecting the essence of nextE’s Energy as a Service philosophy – green energy produced where it is consumed, without impacting the transport and distribution networks, ensuring the end consumer’s supply security and pricing. We continue to invest in multiple projects at various stages of implementation, totaling around 160 MWp, with our target to reach a capacity of 500 MWp by the end of 2027. We will continue to address electricity consumers in Romania with offers and products that ensure the sustainability of their operations. It is now clear that the future requires finding innovative technical and contractual solutions that meet both environmental protection and economic competitiveness goals,” stated Octavian Ciucă, Co-Founder & Co-CEO of nextE.

This represents the latest project for nextE in its development plan to achieve 500 MWp by 2027 in photovoltaic projects, delivering energy directly to large commercial and industrial consumers in Romania.

“Following the completion of last year’s first C&I investment in Romania, PvPP nextE Alpha Prundu Bargaului, through this latest long-term partnership, nextE continues its strategy of producing green energy for large consumers in Romania, ensuring delivery and price security through the EaaS structure. For nextE, the energy transition involves not only environmental protection by reducing emissions but also sustaining economic activity on financially sustainable grounds,” said Bogdan Cordoș, Chief Legal and Strategy Officer of nextE.
