Samsung, a global leader in technology, and Ascendia, a leader in digital educational solutions in Romania, announced the conclusion of a strategic partnership aimed at contributing to the modernization and digitalization of schools in Romania.

The partnership is part of the SEED program (Samsung Ecosystem for Education Development), developed by Samsung, and aims to bring advanced educational content creation features from the LIVRESQ platform, an interactive digital project creation tool, directly to Samsung Flip interactive tablets. By using LIVRESQ, teachers can adapt content according to specific student needs, create interdisciplinary lessons, integrate various multimedia resources, and interact with students in a personalized, dynamic, and efficient manner.

Samsung’s goal through the SEED program is to actively contribute to a better future for education in Romania. Beyond equipping educational centers with the latest Samsung technologies, including distance learning solutions, the company supports a dedicated training program for teachers to develop digital competencies suitable for a modern education system, supported by digital technologies that aim to increase student engagement and participation in the learning process.

Romania ranks last in Europe regarding digital skills. According to the most recent Eurostat study on this subject, Romania occupies the last place in terms of the percentage of people aged 16 to 74 with basic digital skills, at 28%, compared to countries like the Netherlands or Finland (both having a percentage of 79%). At the same time, Romania ranks last among the 27 European Union member states in terms of digital skills, according to the Digital Economy and Society Index (DESI). However, digital literacy is essential for future generations. After Generation Z, the digital natives, come Generation Alpha, a generation that demands a redefinition of traditional educational methods and a shift towards active and interactive learning.

“Collaborating with Ascendia completes the series of strategic partnerships that we target within the SEED program, a program designed to support the educational environment in Romania. Through this program, we aim to provide schools with state-of-the-art technology necessary for developing digital skills among students and teachers. Currently, there are approximately 7,000 interactive Samsung tablets in the ecosystem of connected smart classrooms, where communities can benefit from shared educational resources, whether it’s a teacher in Alba conducting an interactive lesson in three counties or a digital library accessible to all. This is not only an impressive statistic but also an illustration of our commitment to making technology accessible for education. With each interactive board that reaches the classroom, we open up new possibilities for learning and teaching. Therefore, we not only simplify access to high-quality digital educational resources but also provide national-level service and support infrastructure, including a dedicated call center. Integrating the LIVRESQ educational editor on these tablets only amplifies this potential, improving the educational experience for a significant number of educational institutions. Our mission is to build a brighter future through education and technological innovation, and this partnership with Ascendia is a major step in that direction,” added Cristian Constantin, Head of Division Enterprise Business Team & Education Strategy Director-Central Eastern European Display Organisation.

This initiative will make state-of-the-art educational technology more accessible for educational institutions in Romania. LIVRESQ licenses will be made available for all Samsung Flip interactive tablets used in various educational institutions, from kindergartens, schools, and high schools to universities and libraries. This will result in increased access to high-quality digital educational resources for students, teachers, and researchers in Romania.

“Our mission at Ascendia has always been to provide access to high-quality education for as many students and teachers in Romania as possible. We understand that in the digital era we live in, access to technology and digital educational resources can make a difference in a student’s academic success or a teacher’s efficiency. By integrating LIVRESQ, our interactive digital editor, into Samsung Flip interactive tablets, we take a significant step towards achieving this goal. We see this partnership as an extraordinary opportunity to make a positive impact on education in Romania,” said Cosmin Mălureanu, CEO, Ascendia.

SEED – Samsung Ecosystem for Education Development At the end of 2022, Samsung Electronics Romania inaugurated an educational center within the “Școala Centrală” National College in Bucharest, managed in collaboration with the InfinitEdu Association, specialized in continuous professional development for pre-university teachers and educational resource development. Samsung Smart Classroom educational centers in Bucharest, Timișoara, Bacău, and Oradea are equipped with Samsung technology and products, each featuring two interactive screens, 16 seats with innovative design for education, 16 tablets, a video conferencing solution, Smart Monitor, tablet charging cabinet, and more.
