Director of the Year Awards Gala 2023: More Entries and Over €14,000 in Prizes

The Association for Values in Education (AVE) is extending entries for the 2023 Principal of the Year Awards Gala. Thus, principals and vice-principals from public and private high schools, schools, and kindergartens in Romania can still apply for one of the four awards until 22nd August (pm 11:59). Registration is online.  

The Director of the Year Awards Gala is a unique event that showcases the success stories of educational leaders who are making a difference for children and transforming schools in Romania. At the same time, it is the only event that brings together school and business leaders, representatives from the non-profit and public sectors, determined to bring about the change needed for the future of schools in our country.

The Association for Values in Education has been awarding since 2017 school principals who, through their efforts and projects, are changing schools and their communities. This year marks the seventh edition of the Principals of the Year Awards Gala, which will take place on 9 October at the Romanian Athenaeum.

Prizes of over €14,000 and access to the AVE program for the winners of the 2023 Directors’ Awards Gala

The Director of the Year Awards recognizes the strategic role of the school principal in the modernization of education. AVE awards 4 school principals in the following categories: Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Equal Opportunities and the grand prize, Principal of the Year 2023. For each category, a prize of €3,500 will be awarded to support the principals in their ongoing school projects or to start a new project. They also receive a place in the AVE program for transforming schools in Romania.

Registration is done by filling in an online application form by 22nd August pm 11:59, where each director can apply for up to two of the three possible award categories – Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Equal Opportunities. Each director entered is also automatically considered for the grand prize, Director of the Year 2023. More than that, anyone who knows a principal with outstanding results can encourage them to apply by filling in a recommendation form which takes a maximum of 5 minutes.  

Selection and judging for the Director of the Year Awards Gala is done in several stages, for which specialists from different fields have been co-opted. The judging panels allocated to each award category will be composed of a minimum of seven members, most of them from business, recruitment, and education, as well as a student representative and a journalist.

The Director of the Year Awards Gala is in its seventh year and aims to become a tradition. The event, organized by the Association for Values in Education, aims to provide support and recognition to school principals, but also to create an environment where education is appreciated and valued, inspiring and mobilizing the whole community and leaders from different sectors to get involved in transforming education.
