AVE (Association for Values in Education) is strengthening its presence and involvement in the transformation of the education system and is launching the School Transformation Program in Romania, a comprehensive initiative aimed at providing more practical support to schools in Romania. The program integrates the expertise gained from previous projects and is structured in a way that enrolled schools receive support based on their specific needs.

The School Transformation Program in Romania has a duration of three years and is open to all educational institutions in urban and rural areas. Directors interested in the program can apply until October 1, 2023.

“Building on the experience we have accumulated through the programs and projects we have carried out year after year at AVE, we realized that we can better support schools in Romania by putting all this expertise under one program. In this way, we will be able to offer support to each school based on their specific needs, starting with an initial discovery phase that will indicate the areas where the school is already performing well, as well as those that can be areas of growth. This includes a wide range of needs, such as the development of professional skills for directors and teachers, the creation of a culture of continuous improvement, increasing cooperation among teachers, and, most importantly, support for the development of students’ skills. The experience of recent years shows us that the transformation that schools need starts primarily with directors and their teams; they are the catalysts for change, which is why we focus on providing them with the support they need,” says Silvia Toth, Director of Educational Programs at AVE.

Scholarship of 60,000 lei per year for educational institutions enrolling in the School Transformation Program in Romania

The program welcomes kindergartens, schools, or high schools from localities with diverse socio-economic backgrounds, and the main criterion for entry into the program will be the motivation of the school and the determination to make a positive impact on students.

The cost for a school to participate in the program is 60,000 lei for one year, but with the support of partner companies, AVE is providing 200 scholarships to public schools. Private schools are eligible to participate in the program but are not eligible for scholarships.

Schools can learn more about the program by registering for an informative webinar.

Schools interested in applying are invited to participate in an explanatory webinar, where the School Transformation Program in Romania will be presented in detail, along with its benefits for the school, by completing this online form by no later than October 1, 2023.

Those who participate in the information session will be able to go through AVE’s masterclass on learning for transformation, which will be available as an online learning experience, addressing topics such as self-leadership and how adults in a school can create a development experience for themselves and each student in the school. Following this masterclass, the school can formally enter the School Transformation Program in Romania.

The School Transformation Program in Romania is developed in partnership with education experts from Romania, Australia, and the United States. It incorporates elements refined through the Academy of Leadership and School Management programs, Edu Networks, and HumanKind, but it is also inspired by international practices. The aim of this program is to contribute to the profound transformation of schools in Romania in such a way that students make visible progress in each of the eight key competencies identified by the Council of the European Union as necessary for personal fulfillment, a healthy and sustainable life, employability, civic engagement, and social inclusion.
