Apa Nova, a Veolia company, the provider of drinking water and sewerage services for the Municipality of Bucharest, organizes, in partnership with the Private Education platform, from 09.05.2023 to 16.06.2023, the school competition “Nature between waters”, an online environmental education contest, based on knowledge about biodiversity, sustainability, and climate change, aimed at students in grades II – VII in Bucharest and Ilfov.

Launched to raise children’s awareness of the importance of preserving biodiversity and encouraging them to become aware of the responsibility we all have towards the planet and the environment, the Olympiad is run on the digital testing platform www.brio.ro/naturadintreape and is modeled on classic school competitions:

– Entry phase: 09.05.2023 – 25.05.2023.

– Preliminary stage: 27.05.2023 (the first 15 participants from each class qualify for the final stage);

– Final stage: 10.06.2023.

The writing of the tests and the Olympiad material is done with the help of renowned biologists, professionals in sustainability, biodiversity, and climate change, and the verification of the topics is done rigorously by independent teachers.

“The Nature Between the Waters Olympiad is a project that encourages creativity and innovation, forward-thinking, beyond checking students’ school knowledge of environmental education. Supporting such biodiversity initiatives is a joy and a personal pride, as our company’s business is closely linked to natural resource management and environmental protection. One of the most important environmental projects implemented by Apa Nova is the one to protect and stimulate biodiversity on the sites of the Arcuda and Crivina water production and abstraction stations, where we constantly receive visits from students”, said Mădălin Mihailovici, General Manager of Apa Nova Bucharest.

By aligning itself with the strategic program of the Veolia Group, of which it is a part, Apa Nova has committed, through its Purpose, to be useful to the planet and society, adopting and pursuing multi-dimensional performance in all its activity, with strategic objectives aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. One of the defining pillars of this strategic plan aims to shape solutions for a sustainable future, in areas such as health, sustainable development, and, not least, reconciliation with the environment by systematically reducing the impact of its activities on it.

The 100 finalists in the Nature Between the Waters Olympiad will compete for special prizes. For 1st place, the winning students in each class will receive bike vouchers worth 2,000 lei, and for 2nd and 3rd place, 12 electric scooter vouchers worth 1,000 lei. At the same time, the teachers with the highest number of enrolled students from primary and secondary schools and those of the winning students will receive vouchers to purchase IT&C equipment worth 900 lei each.

“Younger generations are more concerned about the environment than those before them, and EducatiePrivata.ro welcomes and promotes this cause. The ‘Nature Between the Waters’ Olympiad is an excellent opportunity for students to make this concern bear fruit and pass it on to their peers, teachers, and parents. We are happy to be part of this project and hope that interest in this field will grow in all segments of society”, said Oana Dimofte – founder of EducatiePrivata.ro.

More details about registration and the rules of the competition can be found on the official website of the prize competition: www.brio.ro/naturadintreape  and on www.educatieprivata.ro
