After more than 10 years of activity in the field of packaging waste management and circular economy, during which it has become one of the strongest corporate groups in the sector, the FEPRA Group is launching a comprehensive project to develop this sector.

Recently, the group completed the acquisition process of the Remat București Nord location, situated in Buftea, Ilfov County. On this site, the group intends to develop, over the next two years, the first circular economy park in the country. The transaction, which includes over 5.6 hectares of land, 5,000 sqm of industrial halls, and 900 sqm of office space, was supported by a loan contracted from CEC Bank.

The acquisition of Remat Nord’s assets is part of the development strategy adopted by the FEPRA Group, which aims to centralize the collection and recycling activities to increase operational efficiency and create synergies between the group’s companies. With this strategic move, FEPRA’s vision to expand capabilities is also taking shape, with a range of services that contribute to a more sustainable approach to packaging and waste management. Thus, in addition to the collection and recycling of packaging waste, over the next two years, the circular economy park will be able to host solutions for the reuse of packaging and repair services for electrical and electronic equipment, as well as solutions for managing construction and demolition waste, bulky waste, hazardous waste, and textiles. Furthermore, continuing the group’s efforts to support the transition to a circular economy, the new project will also include a co-working area, dedicated to startups in the field of environment and recycling.

“This significant step towards realizing FEPRA Group’s vision of creating a world where resources are a shared responsibility is a new confirmation of our concern for a sustainable future. We are building an integrated hub that not only centralizes current operations but also expands opportunities for waste valorization and transformation into resources, with a strong focus on sustainability and innovation. Through this major investment, we reaffirm our commitment to the circular economy and provide a concrete example of action for the benefit of the entire sector. It is a significant progress on the road to transforming the way Romania approaches resource management, not just waste, and we are proud to be once again at the forefront of this process,” said Ionuț Georgescu, founder of FEPRA.

The announcement of the acquisition of Remat Nord comes at a time when, earlier this year, the FEPRA Group announced the launch of an investment project to support the circular economy. Valued at 15 million euros, it is based on a comprehensive sustainable development strategy, developed in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The FEPRA Group of companies offers integrated solutions for achieving sustainability goals, minimizing the negative impact on the environment, and transitioning to the circular economy for economic agents operating in our country. The FEPRA ecosystem provides a comprehensive service approach through FEPRA EPR: implementation of extended producer responsibility, FEPRA Collection: collection and sorting of packaging waste and electrical and electronic waste, FEPRA Recycling: recycling of PET and glass, and Global Innovation Solution: environmental consultancy.
