Sameday, one of Romania’s courier market leaders, is investing over 1 million euros and launching the SAMEDAY App, a mobile application designed to enhance the customer experience with online stores. This app provides users with more predictability, flexibility, and transparency in the delivery process. The functionalities included in the SAMEDAY app address the specific requirements and needs of consumers regarding courier services, built based on feedback gathered by the company in a market study conducted in May of this year.

According to Sameday’s study, the safe delivery of parcels, speed, and clear communication regarding the estimated delivery time are among the highest expectations of customers in their interaction with any courier company. Sameday’s commissioned research revealed that 78% of respondents desire a mobile app that offers more control and flexibility in the delivery process. The most desired features by users include real-time tracking of the delivery process, the option to postpone delivery or extend the storage period of parcels in easyboxes.

Sameday has integrated top features into the new app, significantly improving the entire online shopping process and providing customers with multiple options for managing deliveries:

  • Real-time tracking of the parcel’s route on a map – customers can track the exact location of parcels up to 2 hours before delivery.
  • Payment by card directly from the app – even if they initially chose cash on delivery, customers have the option to pay online for orders directly through the app.
  • Redirecting parcels to easyboxes or another address – customers can opt to redirect parcels to a nearby easybox for later pickup or to a more convenient address. For easy use, customers can save multiple delivery addresses by accessing the “My Addresses” menu.
  • Extending the parcel storage period in an easybox by up to 24 hours – in case customers cannot pick up their parcels from an easybox in a timely manner, they can extend the storage period directly through the app.
  • Postponing delivery for up to 5 days – in unforeseen situations where they are not available at the delivery address, customers can choose to postpone delivery for up to 5 working days in Bucharest and 2 working days for all other areas of the country.

“SAMEDAY App is the first product launched by Sameday exclusively for the end consumer and becomes a significant differentiator in the courier market. The new product aims to enhance the customer experience, build trust in the ecosystem created by online stores and the courier industry, thereby contributing to the development of e-commerce in Romania. Technology is very important to us, and when developing digital solutions, we start with customer expectations, as they want more control over the delivery process. Therefore, the most appreciated functions of a mobile app are those that provide comfort, transparency, and flexibility,” said Lucian Baltaru, CEO of Sameday Group.

In addition, SAMEDAY App includes other useful features for customers, such as saving preferred delivery addresses and easyboxes, adding bank cards to the app for faster payments, checking the status of all Sameday orders in one place, access to order history, readily available PIN/QR code for delivery validation, notifications about the delivery time window, order cancellation before delivery, and app registration directly with eMAG, Google Play, or Apple Store accounts.

The SAMEDAY App mobile application can be downloaded for free from the Apple Store or Google Play.

Over 50% of Sameday orders are delivered to easyboxes.

Over 20,000 online stores have used Sameday for deliveries in the first 8 months of this year. Currently, over 50% of Sameday orders are delivered to easyboxes, a delivery method that has become a standard in Romania for online stores and consumers alike. In Romania, there are over 3,800 easyboxes located in 333 urban and rural areas, and Sameday plans to further expand the locker network. In 2023, the daily average for shipments to lockers is approximately 150,000, with an average pickup time of 6 hours.

In 2023, most easybox orders came from Bucharest, where approximately 6 million parcels were delivered, with the majority registered in Sector 6. The capital is followed by Cluj-Napoca, with over 1 million parcels, then the cities of Iași, Bacău, and Timișoara.
