Somfy Romania: Romanians are increasing their interest in the interior automated solutions

Somfy Romania, leader in providing automated control systems for shading and access technology in homes and commercial buildings, but also a key player for smart home solutions, announces increasing sales for automated indoor shading solutions (curtains and drapes), with 15% more compared to last year, as a result of the launch of a new WireFree motors range, but also thanks to new Romanians’ mentality and their changing lifestyle in the last years.

In order to meet the new needs of the market, Somfy Romania will start between October 23, 2023 and January 31, 2024, a national campaign to promote automated solutions for indoor shading, through which it aims to bring even more comfort and privacy in Romanian homes, a simplified lifestyle, but also to contribute to the optimisation of energy consumption.

“The way we want to live today requires less energy consumption, combined with a high level of comfort, so automated solutions for curtains, drapes, interior blinds, have become an increasingly important necessity. We encourage the adoption of such solutions both by introducing new types of motors that do not require electrical wiring, but also through the  campaigns we are organizing together with our partners to make smart home accessible to everyone. People spend almost 90% of their time indoors, so windows play a key role in determining the indoor experience. The light, the heat, and the degree of glare entering from a window changes several times during a single day, and sometimes in unpredictable ways. This is where indoor automated solutions come in, so that tenants can adjust their visual or thermic environments according to their needs, preferences or weather conditions, improving the level of comfort, protecting their private space, or optimising electricity consumption.

Thus, with TaHoma Switch and sun sensor the curtains and drapes close automatically as soon as the temperature inside exceeds 25 degrees to protect the furniture and keep the home cool. During winter, the curtains open automatically to let the sun’s rays in, and in this way the home is heated with the help of the sun warmth.

Somfy Romania offers a diversified portfolio of smart solutions for curtains and drapes, from premium solutions such as GLYDEA ULTRA 60e RTS, economic options with the Movelite 35 range, but also a range of WireFree products – Movelite WireFree 35 RTS motors, powered by a rechargeable battery, ideal for renovation projects or spaces where there is no electricity source in the window area. The battery will require recharging on average only twice a year.

Movelite™ motors are suitable for all types of curtains, being hidden behind the curtains and thus ensuring a harmonious and premium design. With the “My” function you can set your favourite position between fully open and closed, and with ”Touch Motion” – by simply touching the material the curtain will automatically end the movement, which will increase the resistance of the material over time.

GLYDEA ULTRA 60e RTS is a premium and ultra-silent motorisation, equipped with advanced noise and vibration suppression technology, suitable for straight and curved rails, for all types of curtains and drapes, but also for all types of materials. It can operate drapes and curtains up to 60kg, with a track length of 12 meters.

Automated indoor shading solutions are controlled via a remote control, mobile phone app or voice. In addition, they can be integrated into the Somfy smart home system by using the TaHoma switch control unit, which allows the centralisation, control and programming of indoor shading equipment as well as compatible lighting systems. It is possible to create your own scenarios, allowing curtains and drapes to open automatically at a certain time of the day, based on personal preferences or just to simulate the presence inside the house. Moreover, the use of additional sensors will allow the opening and closing of the curtains depending on the level of sunlight or the temperature inside the house, helping to heat the room in winter or maintain a pleasant temperature during summer. TaHoma switch is compatible with over 200 different devices and 21 major brands of smart home appliances.
