VTEX (NYSE: VTEX), the global enterprise digital commerce platform, has been chosen by Metatools, a company with over 25 years of experience in the DIY industry, to launch the e-bricoshop.ro marketplace. In the first year, Metatools is expecting about 50 major merchants and brands from various categories and fields of activity such as home, garden, and DIY.

As a result of its investments in digitization, but also in the expansion of product ranges and in the logistics chain, Metatools estimates around a 15% increase in business this year compared to last, approximately 25 million euros.

“The new marketplace is an elite one – the first of its kind in Romania! We want to promote Romanian companies with a view to business development, both on the domestic market and at the European level”, says Mircea Androne, co-founder and CEO of Metatools.

The company’s co-founder estimates a minimum of 100,000 SKUs listed in its marketplace for the first year, varying from multiple premium brands such as:

Dewalt, Bosch, Makita, Milwaukee – power tools
Stihl, Husqvarna, Villager – specific gardening equipment
Karcher, Kranzle, Nilfisk – cleaning, pressure washers
Wiha, Ridgid, Rems, Rothenberger, Unior, Sata – hand and installation tools
Kapriol, Stanley – DIY/Interior Design Tools
Smart Quality – general catalog of tools, accessories and various construction equipment (own brand of Metatools Group).

A marketplace dedicated to enthusiasts

E-bricoshop.ro is more than a marketplace, it is a space dedicated to DIY enthusiasts, with an extensive range of products in multiple verticals. The offer will be constantly enriched, depending on the preferences of buyers.

“We are glad that together with VTEX we have managed to build a marketplace dedicated to home and garden design enthusiasts and professionals. VTEX’s composable and complete capabilities have enabled us to offer customers an extensive range of products from dozens of local partners – from professional equipment and tools to home and garden furniture. We have also managed to implement a registration process that is very easy for the merchants who register in the marketplace, but it also gives us the flexibility to expand internationally, without costly subsequent developments”, points out Mircea Androne.

At the moment, e-bricoshop.ro offers items from top international brands, such as DeWalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, Black+Decker, Karcher and Stihl, continuing to expand the range of products available. Through new collaborations concluded weekly, the company is dedicated to bringing the best products within reach of its customers.

“We are excited about the partnership between VTEX and Metatools, as our digital commerce specialists managed to propose the best architecture for this complex project. This new marketplace can be easily expanded internationally and , without a doubt, it will contribute positively to the development of our partners’ profitability”, declares Cristi Movilă, Eastern Europe General Manager & EMEA Sales Leader within VTEX.

The DIY niche has gained significant popularity since the pandemic among consumers who appreciate personalized and creative solutions for homes, gardens and various projects. Local players are taking advantage of this growing trend, presenting a diverse range of DIY products, tools and services, all sourced from businesses in Romania. By connecting shoppers with these talented artisans, e-bricoshop hopes to foster a stronger sense of community and encourage purchasing from local makers.
