Mega Image has opened its newest Concept Store in central Bucharest, in the historic building located at 45 Grigore Cobalcescu Street, a symbol of interwar Bucharest and a valuable architectural, historical and urban landmark.

The building was transformed by keeping the symbolic value and the Art Deco elements of the exterior, to recreate the feel of the interwar period in Bucharest.

Modern elements were integrated so as to maintain the features of the Mega Image brand. The Cobalcescu Concept Store is anchored in the heart of the city, in a protected area, and brings the shopping experience to a new level though a unique concept both in terms of construction and design innovation as well as a well-organised and spacious environment.

The building that hosts the new Concept Store was built between 1928 and 1935 after a project by architect Arghir Culina, and had the function of a garage and auto repair shop, being called the “Mihaescu Garage” at the time. Over the years, the building suffered several changes and reconstructions, and currently has four levels, with a total surface of almost 6,000 sqm.

The new concept store occupies all the levels of the building – two for parking and two for shopping.
