UPDATE 18:30. Black Friday: Total online payments up to RON 136 million; number of transactions 202,175, up 56 percent

Black Friday 2018 started at the beginning of the month for some retailers. eMAG launched the campaign this morning at 7 AM. All retailers promised up to 90 percent discounts. According to eMAG, 500 Microsoft Xbox One Slim consoles were sold in 39 seconds and 501 iPhone Xs were gone in 43 seconds. In the first 12 seconds, eMag sold merchandise worth RON 1 million, and in the first 20 minutes the sales value grew to EUR 15 million. By 7 AM, the average purchase value was RON 377 lei.

Total volumes paid online through PayU platform: RON 136 million, up by 39 percent, and the number of transactions reached 202,175, up by 56 percent.

UPDATE 16:30

Total volumes paid online through PayU platform until 16:30 exceeded the results of the whole day of Black Friday 2017. Traded volumes: RON 127.6 million – more than 40 percent compared to last year when there were RON 90 million.

Number of transactions: 184,460 – more than 56 percent compared to last year when were registered 118,092. Most used product categories: IT & C, jewelery, fashion, tourism, insurance.

Top 3 transactions registered in PayU Romania:

129,635 lei – gold;

48,881 lei – photo equipment and accessories;

46,970 lei – IT & C.

Countries where the transactions come from: Romania, Great Britain, Hungary, Italy, Bulgaria.

Average shopping cart value: RON 692 – lower by 10 percent compared to last year when it was RON 769.

Payment Methods:

Pay by click: 30 percent of online shopping was paid with a single click.

Bank card with monthly installments: 25 percent of the total online payments were made with a non-interest rate card.

According to F64 data, the sales trend is in line with expectations. At 16:15 there were orders worth about EUR 1,150,000, figures comparable to those registered in 2017. The highest increases were registered by the following categories: action camera (+ 95.7 percent), photo accessories (+ 52 percent) and mirrorless devices (+ 30 percent), while compact cameras and camcorders recorded drops of 29 percent and 20.5 percent respectively. 33 percent of the total commanders were paid with the card.

UPDATE 11:30

The largest online transaction recorded until 11:30 am worth RON 129,635, a purchase of gold, while the total traded volumes were up to RON 97.5 million – 40 percent more than last year, when RON 70 million were registered at this hour.

Number of transactions: 128,970 – more than 52 percent compared to last year when 84,827 were registered.

UPDATE

According to PayU, RON 86 million worth of online payments were made until 10.30. There was also a beer from Costa Rica, where former Government official Elena Udrea is in prison and waits for extraditing procedure to be finalised.

Fashion Days’s first 12 hours of Black Friday made RON 25 million, 40 percent more compared to Black Friday 2017. The most expensive product, a golden diamond ring worth RON 2.308, was sold at 7AM. The biggest order totaling RON 6.407 was made from Arad city.

According to payment processor PayU, today between 12-8.30 AM, the value of processed transactions was 40 percent higher compared to 2017 (65.000 transactions in 2018, and 42.000 transactions in 2017). The most expensive order was worth RON 32.000 and the client bought electronics, TVs, vacuum cleaners and washing machines. 

EvoMag says it had over 15,000 orders by 9 am, with a peak traffic of over 25,000 unique users on the website at the same time, at 12:05 am.

Banca Transilvania’s BANK Friday offers include 50 percent discounts on services for small enterprises and tickets to the next edition of Untold Festival.

Main offers advertised by retailers

eMag

eMag is preparing 3 million products for the Black Friday event on November 16, with a total discount value of RON 220 million, according to CEO Iulian Stanciu. Sales of RON 400 million are expected during the single-day event.

Among the best-buys already announced there are 1,000 Samsung Galaxy S8 at RON 1,499, 2,000 pieces of Star-Light TV with an 80-inch diagonal at RON 399 and 550 pieces of Fossil’s The Commuter watches at RON 189.

Altex

The retailers is holding its”Blec Fraidei” event between November 1 and December 5 and is offering thousands of products on sale from electro-IT and household appliances. The discounts are both online and offline in the largest shops network and they last for a whole month in order to allow customers to find what they need without having to rush.

Among the latest offers there is even a Dacia Duster Laureate with a discount of RON 20,000 and a SSD Kingston A400 with 120 GB capacity at RON 97.9.

Cel.ro

The online retailer will have Black Friday only on November 16 and offer over 200,000 products, expecting sales of RON 50 million.

Among the most interesting products is the Samsung Galaxy Note 9, which will have a RON 1,000 discount. There are also other 4G smartphones with prices starting at RON 249 and Asus laptops with discounts of up to 40 percent.

Flanco

Flanco’s Black Friday campaign will be between October 26 and November 19. The company claims to offer discounts of up to 80 percent to over 700,000 products, in 131 stores in 93 cities, as well as online. Flanco offers over 70,000 TVs, 50,000 handsets, 230,000 large and small home appliances, and hundreds of thousands of other IT, gaming, car, gadget, tool and gear or fitness products.

Some of the deals are: the Samsung Galaxy S9 smartphone, which will be available for RON 2.499, with a discount of RON 600, the Samsung 4K Smart TV with a 101 cm diagonal, at RON 1,499, with a reduction of RON 1,300, the Beko 6 kg washing machine at RON 799, with a discount of RON 550.

EvoMAG

The evoMAG online store announces that it will hold this year’s Black Friday edition from November 1 to 18, during three rounds of discounts. The retailer announces that discounts will reach up to 80 percent and will target over 60,000 products. Compared to last year’s campaign, Black Friday 2018 is twice as big. EvoMAG customers will be able to buy half-priced mobile phones and accessories, 4K TVs at prices starting at RON 799, gaming laptops with a discount of up to RON 1,200, and appliences up to 50 percent cheaper.

Libris

The Libris.ro online bookstore will hold Black Friday 2018 on November 16, and the biggest discounts will reach 90 percent. Representatives of Libris.ro estimate over 17,000 orders in this campaign. Discounts of up to 90 percent will be applied to a collection of stock-offs and 60-70 percent of the products on the site will have higher discounts than regular promotions.

Autovit

Autovit.ro, the largest online platform in Romania for the sale and purchase of new and used cars, will offer discounts worth over EUR 900,000 at their fifth edition of Black Friday, which will take place on Friday, November 16, and reductions for this edition go up to 50 percent for some cars.

The biggest discount offered in Autovit.ro’s Black Friday campaign is EUR 19,792 and represents 25 percent of the value of the Mercedes-Benz CLS, whose original price is EUR 79,173, while the Black Friday price reaches EUR 59,381.

Elefant

Under the slogan “Black Friday Comes Early” elefant.ro will kick off discounts on this trade event on November 14 at 18.00. Hundreds of thousands of products have discounts of up to 90 percent.

More specifically, 90 percent of the products in the elefant.ro catalog will have prices up to 90 percent lower. Thus, for books and watches the discount will be up to 90 percent, for perfumes and cosmetics discounts will go up to 70 percent and toys up to 50 percent. High-discount prices will also include personal care items, accessories or products in the fashion category, but also home products.

Fashion Days

Black Friday begins on the evening of November 15 at Fashion Days, and even earlier on the mobile app. Fashion Days has a stock 50 percent higher than last year’s, the largest one in their Black Friday offer so far: more than 1.5 million clothing articles, footwear, accessories, cosmetics or home & deco discounts which will reach up to 90 percent.

“For the first time in this Black Friday, customers will be able to return any order to Post Offices across the country and eMAG showrooms – where they will receive their money back on the spot,” said Robert Berza, general manager of Fashion Days.

Bonami

Bonami organizes two Black Friday events this month. After the positive experience of last year, when there was a special campaign for the Romanian market, during the weekend of November 17-19, this year all the countries where the online store is present will benefit from important cuts in two consecutive weeks, 18 and 23-25 ​​November. Compared to 2017, sales are expected to double, which means revenues of EUR 1,200,000.

There will be 15 campaigns with over 4,000 products, specially prepared with the most popular brands. The cuts will be spectacular, reaching up to 90 percent. Product categories will be varied, including furniture as well as decorations or textiles, and campaigns will be similar in all five countries. For Black Friday and for the festive season special preparations have been made since the summer, with details of the suppliers and the plan for increasing the staff in the warehouse. Every Friday in November was colored at Bonami, with campaigns with 69 percent discounts for Yellow Friday and 79 percent for Pink Friday.

AutoEco

AutoEco.ro, one of the largest online auto parts and accessories stores in Romania, will take part in Black Friday for the first time and offer discounts on over 180,000 car parts and accessories. Black Friday 2018 is the largest discount campaign ever organized by AutoEco.ro.

The company will kick off Black Friday reductions on November 16th at midnight and offer customers significant discounts of up to 65 percent by November 23rd.

Pen House

PenHouse.ro, the online store of Consult Company, the only importer and distributor of writing tools from some of the world’s leading brands such as Parker, Sheaffer and Cross, enters the Black Friday 2018 campaign with discounts up to 95 percent for premium and luxury pens. The company will kick off Black Friday reductions on November 16th at midnight and offer massive discounts to over 15,000 products by Sunday, November 18th.

Thus, for 3 days, customers will be able to order small products in PenHouse.ro, in some cases even with over RON 12,000 lei, such as the Parker Duofold Esparto Gold Gold Limited Gold Pen that can be purchased in Black Friday with a 25 percent discount, at the price of RON 37.252.

These are not the only discounts offered on Black Friday – all the shops and companies are preparing some discounts on their products. Brands like Asus, Miele, Falcon Electronics, Epson, Ideall.ro, FashionUp and many others are in the sale wave. It is just a matter of finding enough time to go through all the offers and find the things you need.
