It is the second consecutive year that candidates intensify their activity in the middle of summer, a period typically dedicated to planning vacations rather than career moves, even though the job offers have remained stagnant, which is a characteristic of the season.

Thus, individuals searching for new job opportunities registered approximately 650,000 applications on the bestjobs recruitment platform in July, which is 30% more than the previous month and 20% more than in July 2022. This dynamic indicates a heightened competition among candidates planning to change their jobs this summer. Additionally, there is notable activity among women, representing 57% of the total active candidates, as well as in the age group of 18-24 years old.

“In the past few years, significant changes in the job market have been triggered, especially in the behavior and preferences of candidates. One of these changes is the increased activity of candidates during the summer, particularly in July. Typically, recruitment activity slightly decreased during this period due to vacations. However, on bestjobs, in the last two years, candidates take advantage of the more leisurely periods to search for a new job, mainly seeking better salaries, flexible working conditions, and more benefits, as shown by the platform’s data. Additionally, since we launched the Artificial Intelligence-based career guidance tool, BIA, which also functions as a personalized search engine, it has become much easier for users to find their desired jobs and apply,” says Ana Vișian, Marketing Manager at bestjobs.

Since the beginning of summer, the terms “manager,” “sales representative,” and “remote” have each recorded 100,000 searches.

In the last 60 days, the most sought-after positions on the bestjobs platform were for “manager,” “sales representative,” “engineer,” “driver,” or “teacher,” with each position receiving approximately 100,000 searches. With the same level of interest, searches were also made for “remote,” “part-time,” or “work from home” expressions.

Moreover, the majority of applications went to Sales (20%), Financial/Accounting (14%), IT/Telecom (10%), Management (8%), Call center/Customer Support (7%).

The roles that attracted the most CVs this summer are:

  • Order Manager, Profi – 3,467 applicants
  • Customer Service Representative, RINA Hotels – 3,261 applicants
  • Customer service, Remote Call Center Officer, Euro Wish – 3,104 applicants
  • Part-time Sales Assistant, H&M – 3,090 applicants
  • Backoffice Agent with English (remote), TELUS International – 3,027 applicants

On the recruiters’ side, many companies have remained very active in their search for new employees, including Lidl, ING Romania, and Interbrands Orbico.
