The winter holiday period opens up new work opportunities for those seeking part-time or full-time paid activities during this season. Most of the winter season-specific jobs posted on the online recruitment platform BestJobs come from Christmas fair organizers and participating traders, who are looking for specialized staff for this period. Additionally, the Transport/Courier and HoReCa/Tourism sectors have opened new temporary positions to adequately meet the growing demand.

In Bucharest, Sibiu, Craiova, Brașov, and Timișoara, BestJobs has advertised Christmas fair vendor positions, with salaries ranging between 600 and 900 euros. The schedule can be either part-time or full-time, depending on the fair’s timetable. Also on BestJobs, candidates can find announcements for staff at Christmas fairs in Austria and Germany, with salary offers of 3,000 and 3,500 euros.

At the same time, shopping centers are looking for sales consultants for pop-up stores (island-type stores) with Christmas products, offering salaries between 900 and 1,200 euros for a full-time schedule, between 10:00-22:00, and animators for children’s parties, with offers of 500-700 euros. Stores selling Christmas decorations are also looking for sales consultants, offering between 500 and 700 euros per month.

“Searches for sales staff have increased significantly during this period, as employers are preparing for the holiday-specific volume starting from mid-November. Moreover, Christmas fairs in our country have become increasingly popular, both with the local and international public, which is why finding and preparing staff is very important. With the emergence of dedicated physical stores, online stores too are diversifying their offerings and preparing for larger work volumes, attracting new candidates. Along with Sales, deliveries are also increasing, and the demand for couriers is proportional,” says Ana Vișian, Marketing Manager, BestJobs.

Christmas fairs in Romania have become more attractive to tourists, being places where participants can buy seasonal gifts for their loved ones, as well as try local dishes. Due to this notoriety, from one year to the next, the biggest fairs enrich their offerings for participants, and the city halls organize seasonal shows and concerts. Preparing these events requires additional staff and involves recruiting new employees for their duration.

The fairs in Sibiu and Craiova are already open to the public from November 17th, while Timișoara, Brașov, and Bucharest will open their gates after November 26th and 30th, respectively. Tourists and Romanians can visit these fairs until the beginning of the year 2024.
