Elon Musk published a photo of Tesla’s newest production line as the company pushes toward its goal of making 5,000 Model 3 cars per week by the end of June.
The new production line, Tesla’s third at its Fremont, California facility, was reportedly built in just three weeks in a tent-like structure next to the main factory, according to MarketWatch.
The new line is dedicated to a dual-motor, high-performance Model 3, a new version for USD 78,000 that Elon Musk announced less than a month ago.
Musk says radical improvements still need to be made to reach the company’s production goal. Last week, he announced that Tesla would lay off about 9 percent of its workers, but this will not affect production jobs.
