Avis: Romanians rented more cars abroad in the first months of the year, compared to last year

Avis, a global provider of mobility solutions, has seen a significant increase in the number of cars booked by Romanians during the Easter mini-vacation compared to 2023. Particularly for international getaways, as the number of Romanian outbound reservations continues to rise.

Italy, France, Germany, and Spain were the most sought-after destinations for car rental services this Easter season among Romanians. These European destinations have been consistently popular among Romanians for Easter vacations, continuing the trends from previous years.

However, Avis noticed an increase in long-distance journeys outside of Europe. India, South Africa, and Japan were among the less conventional destinations that Romanians chose to explore during this period.

“This year, the Easter mini-vacation coincided with the May 1st public holiday, encouraging Romanians to opt for vacations further afield. As the appetite for travel continues to rise, the demand for car rental services is also increasing. For instance, in Australia and New Zealand, an international driving permit from the ACR is required to drive a rental car, and in India and China, car rentals are with the provision of local drivers.
